Frequently Asked Questions
What is Shilajit?
Shilajit has been used in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine for centuries, and the compounds in it appear to be beneficial for many conditions. It is a black resin that comes from the Indian mountains across the Himalayas and is the result of a long process of breaking down plant matter and minerals.
How do you take Shilajit?
You can take Shilajit with either hot water or milk. It is important to use either plant based milk or either filtered or distilled water (as the Shilajit doesn’t like any nasties form the tap water like chlorine or fluoride). Simply add the Shilajit, let is dissolve and drink.
You need approximately a rice grain a day 300mg-500mg - to be taken by adults.
Top Tip: Because of the purity of the resin and it being used to hot temperatures it can sometimes harden. If you put the pot somewhere warm like on the radiator for a few minutes the resin will get soft and you won’t have any problems extracting some from your pot!
Who should avoid taking Shilajit?
Shilajit may increase iron levels, so people with conditions such as hemochromatosis, or an excess of iron in the blood, should avoid it.
People with an active heart disease or with a history of hypotension should also avoid taking Shilajit to prevent a drop in blood pressure.
Is Shilajit safe for children?
Shilajit is a very potent and powerful substance. Therefore we do not recommend giving it to children. We recommend waiting until 16+ to give your child Shilajit.
